Visteon Demonstrates New Technology at SAE Digital Car Conference

DETROIT--March 4, 2002--Extended Systems , a leading provider of mobile data management and wireless connectivity solutions, in cooperation with Visteon Corp. , a leading automotive system integrator, will demonstrate an innovative new Bluetooth interface system that supports hands-free driving.
Called MACH(R) Voice Link, the system is being showcased this week at the Society for Automotive Engineers (SAE) Digital Car Conference, booth #5423, March 4-7 in Detroit, Mich.
The MACH Voice Link system, which combines Extended Systems' XTNDAccess Blue Software Development Kit (SDK) with Visteon's voice-actuated technology, is designed to allow drivers to control consumer devices, such as cell phones hands-free, while staying focused on driving.
"The growth in mobile phone usage coupled with new legislation mandating hands-free communications in cars is driving this market," said Don Baumgartner, Extended Systems' vice president of worldwide marketing. "The MACH Voice Link system further exemplifies the advantage of our Bluetooth communications software as it expands into innovative new market applications."
The MACH Voice Link system, which has already been selected for implementation in some 2003 model-year vehicles, can be used to access various Bluetooth devices, including mobile phones, personal digital assistants (PDAs) and laptop computers. A key feature expected to drive the system's market adoption is a proprietary, voice-actuated, speaker-independent control feature, capable of recognizing multiple languages and dialects while cancelling out surrounding noise.
For more information, please visit booth #5423 at the SAE Digital Car Conference for a live demonstration of the MACH Voice Link system.
