Porsche 911 Sales Set Record, up 19 Percent
ATLANTA, March 1 -- Porsche Cars North America, Inc., (PCNA), importer and distributor of Porsche sports cars in the United States, today announced U.S. retail sales for February totaled 1817 cars, a 15 percent decrease over the same period last year. However, Porsche 911 sales increased by 19 percent, making it the best February in history and the second best month ever for sales of that model.
Porsche 911 sales set an all-time record for PCNA last year and are up 5 percent calendar year to date. The strength of 911 model continues, despite the so-called ``basis effect'' that has negatively impacted comparisons to last year's sales. (Last year's January and February sales were unusually high due to an anomaly in supply caused by two late shipments in December 2000.) PCNA is operating on plan and expects that trend to continue.
