Acura MDX Sets All-Time Sales Record in February
TORRANCE, Calif., March 1 -- Acura posted all-time record sales of the MDX luxury sport utility vehicle as well as strong sales of the all-new RSX sports coupe, despite an overall 5.8 percent decrease to 12,882 units compared to last year's record of 13,677, the company announced today.
Demand in the light truck segment helped drive MDX sales to a record 4,365 units in February, an increase of 14.9 percent versus last year. Sales of the popular RSX sports coupe remained brisk, reaching 2,231 units sold for the month.
Sales of the 3.2 TL luxury performance sedan as well as the 3.2 CL coupe dropped slightly in February due to sell-downs of the outgoing 2002 models of both vehicles. The 2003 TL went on sale mid-month, while the 2003 CL will arrive in showrooms March 14.
``Demand for our products remains strong with the MDX and RSX continuing to
fly out of showrooms,'' said Dick Colliver, executive vice president.
``Once
the model year changeover of TL and CL is complete, we'll see these numbers
increase.''
