Nissan Division Reports February Sales; Altima Continues to Set Sales Record

CARSON, Calif., March 1 -- With continued strong sales in the sedan category, the Nissan Division of Nissan North America reported sales of 53,296 units for the month of February, a 10.4 percent increase versus February, 2001.

Following up on its best January sales month, the all-new Altima recorded its best February with sales of 14,771 units, a 24.1 percent increase versus February, 2001.

Sales of the Nissan Sentra continued to build with sales of 8,922 units, a 26.9 percent increase versus last year. In addition, Maxima sales continued to gain momentum with sales of 10,356 units, a 24 percent increase over last year.

Rounding out the division's results are the Frontier with sales of 5,930 units; the Pathfinder with sales of 5,150 units, the Xterra with sales of 6,476 units and the Quest with sales of 1,679 units.

Combined sales for the Nissan and Infiniti divisions for February were 58,328 units, an 8.2 percent increase versus last year.

Sales of Nissan's North American produced vehicles for February totaled 37,779 units, which represents 65.3 percent of all Nissan vehicles sold in the United States.
