Hiskey Okay After Accident in Afternoon Practice

Hiskey Okay After Accident in Afternoon Practice
HOMESTEAD, Fla. (February 28, 2002) - Rolex Sports Car Series driver Kim Hiskey escaped injury after hitting the wall in the Thursday afternoon practice at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

After the rear of the #35 Porsche GT3-R got loose between Turn 3 and 4, Hiskey lost control and hit the wall.

"The backend got really loose and the car came around and started to spin," Hiskey said. "There wasn't much I could do, but just hold on."

Since the incident happened late in the afternoon practice, the ZIP Racing crew was unable to fully evaluate the car's damage.

"The crew is going in first thing in the morning to assess the damage," Hiskey said. "I know the front and rear of the car were both damaged, but I believe they are both fixable. I don't see any reason why we wouldn't make the race on Saturday."

Hiskey walked away from the wreck and was taken to Homestead Hospital for X-rays and observation. She was soon released and aside from a sore neck, she had no serious injuries.
