Ryder Promotes Robert E. Sanchez to Senior Vice President of Global Transportation Management and Network Integration

    MIAMI--Feb. 26, 2002--Ryder System, Inc. , a global leader in supply chain and transportation management solutions, has promoted Robert E. Sanchez to the position of Senior Vice President of Global Transportation Management and Network Integration. In this role, he is responsible for the continuing growth and development of Ryder's Global Transportation Management solutions. He will report to Executive Vice President of Global Supply Chain Solutions, Gene Tyndall.

    Ryder's Global Transportation Management business provides integrated global management of more than $2.2 billion in customers' ground, rail, sea and air freight purchases annually. A key driver of this business is Ryder's state-of-the-art Transportation Management Center, an enterprise-wide management operations center that saves Ryder customers millions of dollars in transportation costs while maximizing the deployment and leverage of Ryder-owned and Ryder-leased vehicles.
    Sanchez joined Ryder in 1993 as a system designer in the Company's Management Information Systems (MIS) Department and has progressed through promotions in logistics, fleet management and asset management. Most recently, Sanchez served as Chief Information Officer (CIO). As CIO he led a successful initiative to bring formerly outsourced IT services into the Ryder organization and better align the Company's technology investments with its core business objectives. He has been recognized for his proven ability to manage challenging assignments through to successful conclusion, on time and within budget.
    Sanchez earned a master of business administration degree from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a bachelor of science degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Computer Science from the University of Miami. He is a member of Miami-Dade County's economic development organization, the Beacon Council, and serves on that organization's Executive Committee and as Chairman of its IT/Telecom Task Force.
