Defending Pennzoil World of Outlaws champion, Danny "The Dude" Lasoski will return to the dirt track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway Feb. 28 to March 2 for the 2002 Silver State Shootout.

In 2001, not only did Lasoski win an A-Feature at the Silver State Shootout, he captured the championship at the Mopar Parts World Finals at LVMS in November.

"Las Vegas has been pretty good to us," said Lasoski, who drives for a team owned by NASCAR Winston Cup Series star Tony Stewart. "We've always had success here."

Lasoski is in first place after two races this year with veteran champion Steve Kinser close behind.

"There really is no pressure," Lasoski said. "We are going to give it 110% every night and hope for the best."

After a closed practice session last week, Lasoski is pleased with track preparations for the 2002 Silver State Shootout.

"It was absolutely phenomenal," Lasoski said. "I was surprised how smooth and fast the track was."

The Pennzoil World of Outlaws will storm into Las Vegas Thursday night with spectator gates opening at 5 p.m., qualifying at 6 p.m., heat races at 7:30 p.m. and main events at 8:10 p.m.

Race fans still have an opportunity to watch the heart-pounding Sprint Car action by calling the LVMS ticket office at (702) 644-4444.
