Ceradyne, Inc. Names Two New Board Members

    COSTA MESA, Calif.--Feb. 25, 2002--Ceradyne, Inc. Chief Executive Officer, Joel P. Moskowitz, announced today the appointment of two new members to its Board of Directors to replace two recent retirements.
    Mr. Eduard Bagdasarian, Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer of the investment banking firm of Barrington Associates, joins the Board replacing Len Allenstein, long-time Ceradyne Board member. Mr. Bagdasarian chairs Barrington Associates' Executive Committee and serves on its Board of Directors. Mr. Bagdasarian is a registered General and Financial Principal with the NASD. He is a graduate of UCLA with a degree in Business/Economics.
    Mr. Christopher D. Johnson, Technology Venture Fund Manager of Ford Motor Company, joins the Board replacing Dr. Paul Blumberg, recently retired from the Ford Motor Company. Mr. Johnson currently manages Ford Motor Company's strategic venture capital fund and has led various financial transactions involving third parties, and is involved with Ford-related venture technology concepts. Mr. Johnson is on the Board of Directors of several technology companies where Ford has an investment. He has a degree in Business Administration from the University of Toledo and an MBA from the University of Michigan with emphasis in international business and strategy.
    The appointments of Messrs. Bagdasarian and Johnson were unanimously confirmed today at Ceradyne's Board of Directors meeting and they will subsequently stand for election by shareholders at the Company's annual shareholder meeting.
    Mr. Moskowitz commented, "I am very pleased to have men of the caliber and business and financial background of Mr. Bagdasarian and Mr. Johnson join Ceradyne's Board of Directors.
