BUYER ATTENDANCE AT TCAA SHOW WAS UP 14.4 PERCENT
DIAMOND BAR, Calif. - The 13th annual SEMA*TCAA Light-Truck Accessory Expo drew 784 buyers, up
14.4 percent from last year's attendance of 690 buyers. Non-buyer attendance also increased, from 172 in
2001 to 240 at the recent show held in Nashville Feb. 7 through Feb. 9.
"Our exhibitors were completely happy," said Vic Wood, executive director of SEMA's Truck Cap Accessory
Alliance (TCAA), which organized the show. "Not only were they impressed by the quantity of serious buyers,
they kept commenting about the high quality of the attendees."
Wood reported a total attendance of 1,723 people, an increase of 10 percent from the 1,567 people who
attended the previous show.
One hundred fifty companies exhibited at the show, which also featured 38 project vehicles customized with
the latest in truck caps and light truck accessories.
TCAA held its awards ceremony during the show's banquet, which featured country music singer Chad Brock
as post-dinner entertainment.
Tom Brooks of Truckin Thunder Inc., Roanoke, Va., received the Chairman's Award from TCAA Chairman
Bobby Combs of Astro Cap Manufacturing, Garnett, Kan.
Frank Brown, a founding leader of the Alliance, was inducted posthumously into the TCAA Hall of Fame by
Joel Ayres of Leer, Woodland, Calif., chairman of the TCAA Hall of Fame Subcommittee.
Ron Wise of Wise Industries, Old Hickory, Tenn., received the Ron Webster Memorial Award from Combs.
Snugtop, Long Beach, Calif., took top honors for Best Overall Display of the Expo and also won the award
for Best New Product Over Five Hundred Dollars.
Pace-Edwards Co., Centralia, Wash., won the Best New Product Under Five Hundred Dollars award.
TCAA held its annual meeting during the Expo and provided an educational program which included a
keynote address by motivational speaker Michael Janke and six industry-specific seminars for the Expo
attendees.
TCAA, one of eight councils within SEMA, the Specialty Equipment Market Association, has more than 600
member companies. It dedicates its efforts to developing effective strategies and programs that address the
specific needs of the truck cap and accessory industry.
