AAA Texas: State Gas Prices Show Little Change From Last Week; Updated Prices Lets You Know the Cost of Traveling Before Leaving Home
HOUSTON--Feb. 22, 2002--Gas prices throughout Texas were largely stable from last week, with only slight variations upward and downward, according to the Weekend Gas Watch, compiled by AAA Texas. The Weekend Gas Watch monitors the average price of gasoline at popular destinations for motoring trips. The average price in Austin-San Marcos is $1.036, down 0.4 cents from last week. Motorists in Corpus Christi are paying an average of $1.046, down 1.8 cents, while Dallas drivers are paying an average of $1.070, up a half-cent. Houston has an average of $1.060, up 1.7 cents. San Antonio has an average of $1.025, up 0.7 cents.
"Typically, gas prices don't fluctuate much during this time of year, due to lower demand and reduced travel compared to the summer," said AAA Texas spokesperson Rose Rougeau. "That prices remain about 25 cents per gallon less this time than last year is due largely to the continuing soft demand for gasoline and residual effects from the economic downturn."
