BorgWarner Supplies Three of Ward's '10 Best Engines 2002'

CHICAGO, Feb. 21 Three of the ``10 Best Engines 2002'' selected by Ward's Auto World -- the Volkswagen AG 1.8L turbocharged DOHC I-4, the Honda Motor Co. Ltd. 2L DOHC I-4 and the Ford Motor Co. 5.4L -- are equipped with systems and components from BorgWarner Cooling Systems, BorgWarner Morse TEC, BorgWarner Turbo Systems and/or BorgWarner Air/Fluid Systems.

``The Best Engines awards continue as the single most influential engine-development barometer for automakers, suppliers, and even consumers,'' said Bill Visnic, Ward's Auto World senior technical editor. ``We are gratified that automakers -- and the suppliers with whom they cooperate in powertrain development -- covet a 10 Best Engines award.'' Nominations for the award are limited to engines that are available in a regular-production vehicle available for sale in the current calendar or model year, and are fitted in a passenger vehicle with a total base price of no more than $50,000.

BorgWarner supplies engine timing system components to the Honda 2L DOHC I-4, an engine timing system and oil pump to the Ford 5.4L, and the turbocharger, viscous fan drive and ring fan, and three-way valves to the Volkswagen 1.8L turbocharged DOHC I-4. ``We're delighted that BorgWarner systems are an integral part of three winning engines this year,'' said John F. Fiedler, BorgWarner Chairman and CEO. ``We are pleased to congratulate three of our valued customers -- Honda, Volkswagen and Ford -- and are proud of this most recent testament to BorgWarner's product leadership and geographically diverse customer base.''
