STS Acquires Exclusive North American Rights to the Magnum Twist-Lock
BELLINGHAM, Wash.--Feb. 21, 2002--Safe Transportation Systems, Inc., (STS) (OTCBB:SFTS), announced today it has signed a letter of intent with JOL Springs & Spares Ltd. Of Naas, Ireland, for the exclusive North American distribution rights for the Magnum Twist-Lock.Twist-Locks are the safety locking mechanisms, which attach intermodal containers to chassis trailers and rail cars for transportation. JOL is a leading manufacturer and distributor of tractor-trailer components, supplying original equipment trailer manufacturers and the trailer after-market in the United Kingdom and Europe.

JOL's Magnum Twist-Lock is currently endorsed and used by European trailer manufacturers Dennison Trailers Ltd. and South Derry Coach Works.
Dennison Trailers, in business since 1964, has trailer factories in England and Ireland, which supply the U.K. market and export trailers to Germany, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Iceland, Hong Kong and Africa.
South Derry Coach Works Ltd. manufactures and supplies specialty and chassis trailers to the intermodal transport industry throughout the United Kingdom and Europe.
Trucking is the dominant mode in intermodal transportation. Nearly every intermodal moved in the United States involves transport by truck with over 13,000 intermodal carriers hauling almost 8 million domestic and international containers annually. Chassis trailers require up to 8 twist-locks per container.
