Giaffone Wraps Up Preparations for IRL Season Opener

HOMESTEAD, Fla. (Feb. 20) - Felipe Giaffone and the #10 Hollywood/Mo Nunn
Racing Chevrolet G-Force wrapped up preparations for the 2002 Indy Racing
League season opener with two solid days of testing at Homestead Miami
Speedway on Monday and Tuesday.

Giaffone put in 335 miles over the two days on the 1.5-mile Homestead oval -
152 on Monday and 183 on Tuesday. He clocked a fast lap of 27.0 seconds the
first day, 26.6 seconds the next. Other drivers testing those days and
their unofficial best laps included Helio Castroneves (26.4) and Jacque
Lazier (27.14) on Monday, and Lazier again (26.8) on Tuesday. Giaffone
returned to the Homestead facility on Wednesday for a full day of pit stop
practice. The 2002 IRL season opens March 2 at Homestead.

Giaffone is running for the first time this season with Mo Nunn Racing but
with the same Hollywood sponsorship he rode to the 2001 IRL Rookie of the
Year title. Team founder and owner Morris Nunn started Mo Nunn Racing in
2000 in the CART FedEx Championship Series with Hollywood and driver Tony
Kanaan.

Kanaan, a fifth-year CART veteran, also tested on the Homestead oval on
Monday, turning a fast lap of 26.3 seconds during 182 miles behind the wheel
of the #10 Pioneer-WorldCom/Mo Nunn Racing Honda-Reynard. After a day of
pit stop practice Tuesday, Kanaan and the Pioneer-WorldCom crew switched to
the Homestead 2.2-mile road course for full days of testing Wednesday and
Thursday. The CART season opens March 10 at Monterrey, Mexico.

FELIPE GIAFFONE

"I think we're in good shape heading into the season. The first day of our
test this week, we were working on a lot of different things and didn't get
as many miles in. But then, Tuesday, we had a very productive day. We
tried a lot of different stuff, so we know where we stand for the race. It'
s been good everywhere we've tested so far, except for may Fontana (Test in
the West Day 1) because we lost an engine there. But by the end of that
test, at least we found the right direction there. We should be alright for
the season. It was good that we came back here to Homestead this week
because the track changed quite a lot since when were here in December."
