In a surprise announcement just a short while ago, Ford announced that they will build the new version of the GT-40, which was such a hit at the Detroit Auto Show.

The original car dominated LeMans endurance races back in the mid 1960's.

The announcement came during a Pep Rally like meeting held at Ford's Dearborn headquarters. New Ford Chairman William Ford the great-grandson of the founder of the company was on hand to lead the first step in what the company hopes is a revival of the Blue Oval, which he said stands for the passion and pride that he and other employees feel for the company.

It was also revealed that Mr Ford agreed to appear in Ford Commercials and print ads, although, he said that he initialy refused when the Ford ad agency asked him to do it. He relented when he was told he did not have to become a pitchman like Iacocca became for Chrysler in the 1970's, but agreed when he was told that he could "just talk into the microphone, and say what, and how he felt, about his family's company.

Mr. Ford will appear in four TV commercials as well as in magazines, touting Ford's history with lump in the throat warm and fuzzies as only a 100 year old company can.

No details about the production of the GT-40 were given at the meeting.
