The Track That Will Blow You Away Going, Going, Gone! Kansas Speedway Announces Sellout
KANSAS CITY, Kan.--Feb. 13, 2002--The fastest thing going at Kansas Speedway isn't on wheels. Kansas Speedway officials announced today that tickets for the five races that make up the track's 2002 RPM ticket season are sold out.For an unprecedented second year in a row, all 78,000 season tickets for "The Track That Will Blow You Away!" have been purchased by motorsports-hungry race fans from around the country. A season ticket includes admission to five races: the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series O'Reilly Auto Parts 250 on July 6; the Indy Racing League Ameristar Casino Indy 200 and Indy Racing Infiniti Pro Series Kansas 100 on July 7; NASCAR Busch Series Mr. Goodcents 300 on Sept. 28 and NASCAR Winston Cup Series Protection One 400 on Sept. 29.
Tickets sold out quickly because of a high renewal rate and an extensive waiting list that had been compiled after last year's sellout. Speedway President Grant Lynch encourages race fans who want to see RPM ticket events at Kansas Speedway to call and be placed on the waiting list for 2003.
"Renewals really exceeded our expectations," Lynch said. "I think it is the overall package at Kansas Speedway and the interest in a diverse motorsports schedule that made people want to come back. It even generated some interest with new race fans. Five reasonably priced and exciting races sold out this speedway last year. We created the best possible experience for race fans and we're thrilled that the word has spread and has excited race fans from around the world for another year. If you thought 2001 was good, just wait. This year will be even better."
A waiting list for tickets will be compiled for 2003. Anyone interested in purchasing RPM tickets for future seasons should call Kansas Speedway's ticket office at 913.328.RACE to be added to the list. Future expansion and addition of seats at Kansas Speedway will be based on that waiting list.
Though Kansas Speedway's 2002 RPM ticket package is sold out, seats for as low as $20 will be available for Kansas Speedway's Opening Day on June 1. The ARCA RE/MAX Series BPU 200 and NASCAR Winston West Series kansasspeedway.com 150 will go on sale in the coming months. The season-opening doubleheader is not part of the RPM ticket package. Qualifying tickets for each of the races, and the RPM ticket season, will also go on sale.
