Asbury Automotive Group Announces New President & COO for Arkansas-based North Point Dealerships
STAMFORD, Conn.--Feb. 7, 2002--Asbury Automotive Group, Inc., one of the nation's largest automotive retailers, today announced that Charles R. Oglesby has been named president and COO of its Arkansas-based North Point dealership group.North Point operates five auto dealerships in metro Little Rock, Arkansas, and one in Texarkana, Arkansas. Mr. Oglesby will report to both Thomas F. (Mack) McLarty, chairman of the North Point platform, and Kenneth Gilman, president and CEO of Asbury Automotive Group.
Oglesby is a 30-year veteran of the automotive dealership industry. Prior to joining North Point, he was president of the San Francisco-based First American Automotive, a $1.6 billion 36-dealership group. Oglesby is a native of Georgia and a business graduate of the University of Georgia.
"We are very pleased that Charles has accepted this position," said Mr. Gilman. "This appointment underscores Asbury's ability to attract dynamic leaders to its dealership management team."
"We first tried to recruit Charles to our company 20 years ago, so of course we are pleased to now have him lead our operations in Arkansas," McLarty said.
North Point Automotive operates five North Point branded dealerships, selling Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, Toyota, BMW, Volvo, Nissan, Volkswagen, Chrysler, Dodge and Mazda automobiles.
Oglesby succeeds current president, Stephen B. Humphries, who is retiring.
