IRWINDALE SPEEDWAY ANNOUNCES EXTENSIVE 2002 TV SCHEDULE OF NASCAR RACING EVENTS ON FOX SPORTS NET2 WEST Irwindale, Calif. - - (February 8, 2002) Irwindale Speedway has announced an unprecedented 30-date TV schedule for the 2002 racing season on Fox Sports Net2 West. "This is one of the most extensive local-area TV schedules ever for a weekly NASCAR short track, and especially significant in light of our track's being located in the Los Angeles market where air time is always at a premium," said track VP Bob DeFazio. In 2001, Fox broadcast 21 nights of racing from Irwindale Speedway with great success. "NASCAR fans found us by the hundreds of thousands on Thursday nights and told their friends about the show. We were very pleased with the response." DeFazio added. This year's schedule of 30 broadcasts Begins on May 2 and runs every Thursday night (6pm on the West Coast) right on through to November 21. "Last season the reruns of our shows on Saturdays and Sundays seemed to get us as much interest in our events as the first airing on Thursday nights," said DeFazio. "Anyone anywhere in the US with satellite service can see our races and we know that by the number of calls that we get from friends and sponsors around the country when our shows air." Hosted and produced by none other than top race reporter Pat Patterson, the fast-paced one hour shows will allow viewers to really "get inside" the exciting weekly racing from the track that the fans call "LA's Half-Mile Super Speedway". Fox Sports Net2 West is currently available to more than 4.5million homes in Southern California and counting. "TV exposure is good for everyone associated with the Speedway: competitors, sponsors, fans, and our surrounding community. The 2002 schedule is going to be even more of the same, 'win-win'," DeFazio concluded.
