National Grand Prix of Washington, D.C. Announces Robbie Knievel Record Jump
and First Phase of Celebrity Racers
Knievel to Perform Record Jump, Supermodel Kim Alexis Among Those Scheduled
To Participate in Celebrity Match Race
WASHINGTON, D.C., February 5, 2002 At a press conference held today at the
Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill, National Grand Prix Holdings, LLC announced
Robbie Knievel will perform a record motorcycle jump on July 21, 2002, prior
to the American Le Mans race on Sunday. The National Grand Prix also
introduced Supermodel Kim Alexis as the first celebrity scheduled to take
part in the July 20, 2002 celebrity match race.
Other celebrities announced today who are scheduled to drive in the race
include: William Shatner, "Star Trek;" Timothy Dalton, "The Living
Daylights;" and Melissa Joan Hart, "Sabrina: The Teenaged Witch." The
celebrity race will feature a match-racing format in which each celebrity
will be paired with a professional driver. The celebrity and the
professional will each drive one lap the best-combined team time will be
the winner.
The jump will be his first record-breaking attempt since the summer of 2000.
"I¹m very excited for this chance to jump in our nation¹s capital this
will be the first chance I¹ve had to jump in Washington, D.C.," said Robbie
Knievel. "The National Grand Prix is an ideal, high adrenaline event perfect
to make a record-breaking motorcycle jump."

Alexis, celebrity race participant.
The National Grand Prix, which is coming to the grounds of RFK Stadium July
19-21, will feature races of four sanctioning bodies; American Le Mans
(ALMS), Trans-Am, World Challenge and Star Mazda. It will be the first major
auto-racing event in the D.C. metropolitan area in more than 80 years. The
ALMS race will be televised live on NBC and CBS will air the Trans-Am race.
The corresponding three-day festival will feature a concert, world-record
breaking jump by Robbie Knievel, Lifestyle Expo and a celebrity match race.
