Kathryn Wriston Elected to Goodyear Board
AKRON, Ohio, Feb. 5 -- Kathryn D. Wriston has been elected to the board of directors of The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company .
``We are pleased to welcome Mrs. Wriston to Goodyear's board,'' said Sam G. Gibara, chairman and chief executive officer. ``She brings a wealth of experience in business accounting and law.''
Wriston, 62, is a trustee of the John A. Hartford Foundation and the Practicing Law Institute. She serves on the board of directors of The Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co. and The Stanley Works.
She is a past director of, among other companies, Federated Department Stores Inc., Union Carbide Corp., Southern Pacific Co. and W.R. Grace & Co.
Wriston served as chairperson of the Eastern Region Selection Panel of President Ronald Reagan's Commission on White House Fellowships and as vice chairperson of the Fordham University Board of Trustees. She was formerly a trustee of the Financial Accounting Foundation, a member of the Financial Accounting Standards Board Task Force on Timely Financial Reporting Guidance, a member of the Financial Accounting Standards Advisory Council and a public member of the board of directors of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. She served on the boards of the American Arbitration Association and the CPR Institute for Dispute Resolution and on the board of overseers of the Rand Institute for Civil Justice.
She is a graduate of Smith College and the University of Michigan Law School.
