CarParts Technologies Expands Management Team to Accelerate Growth; Alan Bennett, Executive Chairman of CarParts Technologies, Appoints David McCann as CEO
EL SEGUNDO, Calif.--Feb. 4, 2002--CarParts Technologies Inc., the leading provider of integrated supply-chain management solutions to the automotive aftermarket, announced today that it has appointed Dave McCann as the company's new Chief Executive Officer. McCann, an experienced software executive, will work with Bennett at CarParts Technologies to manage and accelerate the growth of the company.CarParts Technologies has experienced substantial growth in the last year, including multi-million dollar contracts with Fountain Tire, Merchant Tire and ProCare for its Shop Management System, and a large increase in contracts for the company's ERP/Supply Chain system from major automotive distributors such as ASCO Distributing, Herzog and South Eastern Warehouse Inc. of Atlanta.
"Our recent growth has created the need for additional senior management, and we sought a senior software industry executive to complement our automotive expertise. We are excited to have someone with Dave's extensive software industry and managerial background join the company," said Bennett. "This will allow me to focus on the many acquisition opportunities available in our target markets."
McCann will manage the organic growth of the company, running the company's internal operations, and take a seat on the company's Board, reporting to Bennett. He will also be in charge of integrating the company's acquisitions.

McCann's background brings to CarParts Technologies over 20 years of high technology experience. Most recently, he was EVP of Worldwide Operations for Continuus Software Inc., a Southern California software company which provides collaborative Design Automation solutions for multiple industries -- including Automotive industry players such as GM, Mercedes Benz, BMW, Siemens Automotive, Delphi and Johnson Controls. After helping take Continuus public in 1999, he assisted in the merger of Continuus and Telelogic AB of Sweden in 2001.
Prior to his experience at Continuus, McCann was CEO of technology start up SOS Wireless Inc., a company that developed back end application software for emergency phone services and call center operations. He held senior management positions at two other Southern California software technology operations, as VP & General Manager of Subscriber Computing Inc., and as VP & General Manager of the Spatial Database Division at Mapinfo Corporation. Prior to his experience in building new technology companies, McCann was SVP of Worldwide Product Management & Marketing for the $1 billion Client/Server Technologies Division of Unisys Corporation -- a $7 billion corporation.
