SynQuest Awarded Accreditation by Institute of Transport Management; Distinguished Service to the Automotive Manufacturing Sector

ATLANTA--Feb. 4, 2002--SynQuest, Inc. today announced it was presented with an `Award of Excellence for Logistics Software' accreditation by the Awards Committee of the Institute of Transport Management (ITM).
Making the announcement, Kieran Ring, Executive Director of the Institute of Transport Management, said: "SynQuest is rightly deserving of the ITM `Award of Excellence for Logistics Software.' The Awards Committee noted the many benefits that SynQuest software and consultancy services bring to an enterprise, in particular the automotive manufacturing industry.
"The basis of successful supply chain management is utilising assets to maximise profitability. This may sound like common sense but in the larger scale of things it is often forgotten or difficult to achieve in a short time frame. Our members are always eager to learn of any companies that can make an instant difference to the bottom line. The ITM looks forward to witnessing the continued contribution of SynQuest to the transport industry and we will endeavour at all times to champion the organisation."
Since its inception in 1977, the ITM has provided a research and accreditation service to its membership in the UK, specifically examining developments in policies and services pertaining to all aspects of the transportation industry.
The executive committee of the ITM, following requests from its membership for information on data management systems within the transportation industry, instructed its Awards Committee to undertake an intensive, twelve month survey into this area. Its aim was to specifically look at and accredit suppliers, providing an official `seal of approval' to ITM members and affiliated institutes nationwide. Impressed by what the research revealed about SynQuest the Awards Committee was in no doubt about the justification for the award.
SynQuest was chosen from a short list and won against criteria that evaluated each company's performance, including client testimonials, integration of in-house systems, implementation of software and the management team.
Peter Klein, Vice President of SynQuest Europe, said: "At SynQuest we are very excited to receive the ITM award this year. To be recognized by the industry for our efforts to deliver unique, high value logistics solutions is something we are all very proud of.
"Helping our customers through bringing down costs in turn allows them to improve their customer service capability. This aim has always been our first priority. The award is an extra motivation to continue our efforts in this direction and is a great start to our new financial year."
