Porsche Cars North America Reports January U.S. Sales
ATLANTA, Feb. 1 -- Porsche Cars North America, Inc., (PCNA), importer and distributor of Porsche sports cars in the United States, today announced U.S. retail sales for January totaled 1485 cars, a 28 percent decrease over the same period last year.
This month's decrease is a result of the so-called ``basis effect.'' Last year's January and February sales were unusually high due to an anomaly in supply caused by two late shipments in December 2000. Despite the apparent drop in sales, PCNA continues to operate on plan and is optimistic about the overall sales climate for 2002. Demand is very strong for all 911 models, particularly the recently announced Targa and Carrera 4S.
