FOR RELEASE: January 30, 2002ACDelco And Direct Accounts Join Forces To Help At-Risk Youth
Grand Blanc, Mich. - To members of the Federation of Youth Services, it will feel like getting a new van - so to speak. The private, non-profit, child care agency, recently learned that ACDelco teamed with Redford Auto Service Center, a local Total Service Support (TSS) Independent Service Center (ISC) and Rowerdink, Inc., the ISC's direct account, to donate parts and service to repair their 1998 Ford Windstar van.
"We really depend on the van to keep our organization functioning," said Dr. Deloris Coleman, board member and fundraising chair for the agency. "The fact that ACDelco is going all out in arranging for its repair - is simply fantastic. I give them a million thanks for their support."
The repairs on the van involve primarily undercar and engine management-related repairs, which include spark plugs, filters, chassis parts, shocks and struts and all-new front and rear brakes. Because of their "All Makes/All Models" commitment, ACDelco is able to provide all of the necessary parts to repair the vehicle. "Our research continues to show both GM and non-GM vehicle owners believe ACDelco products can fit just about all vehicles on the road today," said Kimberly Asher, ACDelco district sales manager. "The point that ACDelco had everything for a Ford vehicle validates our research."
In addition to providing assistance to an organization in need, this endeavor between ACDelco and its distribution channel demonstrates what can be accomplished by working together. "My ACDelco district sales manager asked if I'd think about donating some labor and time to the repair and I said I'd be glad to help," said Jim McGlynn, owner of Redford Auto Service Center. "It feels good to give what I can to help someone out." Rowerdink, Inc., a Michigan-based ACDelco direct account, delivered the necessary parts to Redford Auto Service Center. Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co., a major supplier to SPO, donated new tires for the van.
"We have a responsibility to set an example, and to make a special effort when it comes to helping the people in our communities," says Asher. " Giving something back to the community is our way of saying thanks to our ACDelco customers."
ACDelco is part of General Motors Service and Parts Operations (SPO). Headquartered in Grand Blanc, Mich., SPO markets automotive replacement parts and accessories worldwide under the GM and ACDelco brand names. For more information, visit the ACDelco Web site at http://www.acdelco.com.
