An industry veteran of three decades, George E. Nahas, a single-point Oldsmobile dealer from Tavares, Fla., was named the 2002 Time Magazine Quality Dealer at today’s general session.
Nahas has been a major contributor to his alma maters, Northern Illinois University and DePaul University College of Law; a supporter of his community hospital; and a leader in helping the underprivileged,
“Most awards received in our lifetime will gather dust after we leave, and the ‘real award’ is the legacy of influence we have on the lives of others,” Nahas said. “I wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for my mentor, Ray Dennison, himself a TimeMagazine award winner; General Motors; and Oldsmobile.” Nahas ended his remarks the way he is noted for ending his TV commercials, with: “Is this a great country or what?”
Nahas was chosen for the honor, now in its 33rd year, from among 66 nominated dealers. The award is presented by Timeand the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company.
