CogniTens Honored with Photonics Circle of Excellence Award

RAMAT HASHARON, Israel--Jan. 24, 2002--CogniTens Ltd. announced today that it was chosen to be one of the winners of the 2001 Photonics Circle of Excellence Awards, which honors the 25 most technically innovative products of the year.
The award is given in recognition of the company's Optigo 100E 3D Measurement System, and is presented to the winners during the Photonics West Conference in San Jose in January 2002. Amongst the winning companies are Cisco, Eastman Kodak, NTT Electronics Corp., Nortel Networks, Photobit, and others. The Photonics Circle of Excellence Awards was established by Laurin Publishing for the recognition of excellence in photonics.
The Optigo 100E is a portable, non-contact three-dimensional measurement system that collects 2D image sets and then triangulates a 3D model in real time with an accuracy down to 20 microns. Due to very high image acquisition speed, measurements can be performed on the shop floor, regardless of the complexity, size or features of a part. The system can be used in various industry settings where highly accurate 3D measurement of free-form objects is required. Applications for the device include design, body assembly of engineering prototypes, reverse engineering, quality control of parts, assembly in production, and final quality assurance.
Danny Albeck, VP R&D of CogniTens, is pleased with the award: "This is an important milestone in the recognition of our company and its products by the industry. Our Optigo system is an excellent product helping manufacturers to achieve quicker ramp-up times, increased production flexibility and smaller production batches."
CogniTens is a leading provider of non-contact 3D measurement systems for the industrial metrology market. The products, combining accuracy, high-speed and cost-effectiveness, are recognized by industrial manufacturers as the most capable solution for the emerging process control needs of the industry. The company has offices in the USA, Germany, and Japan.
