ADVISORY/Untangled Traffic Within Voters' Grasp; Auto Club Joins With California Highway Patrol to Support Proposition 42

    --Automobile Club of Southern California

Who: The Auto Club's Transportation Chief, Dan Beal, the
CHP and the California Transit Assoc. join forces to
support Prop. 42 in front of one of L.A.'s most
congested freeway interchanges, which would receive
funding to improve traffic if the measure passes.

What: Prop. 42 is a measure on the March 5th ballot that
would provide more than $1 billion annually without
raising taxes to improve freeway congestion,
highways, interchanges, mass transit, potholes and
                  storm drains.

When: Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002 at 10 a.m.

Where: Luminaria's Restaurant, 3500 Ramona Blvd, Monterey
Park. (Southeast of the 10/710 Interchange).

Why: California's transportation infrastructure has been
neglected for decades. California's roads, once the
envy of the nation, are now rated the worst.
California spends less per resident on road
maintenance and repair than any other state.
