ADVISORY/Untangled Traffic Within Voters' Grasp; Auto Club Joins With California Highway Patrol to Support Proposition 42
--Automobile Club of Southern CaliforniaWho: The Auto Club's Transportation Chief, Dan Beal, the CHP and the California Transit Assoc. join forces to support Prop. 42 in front of one of L.A.'s most congested freeway interchanges, which would receive funding to improve traffic if the measure passes. What: Prop. 42 is a measure on the March 5th ballot that would provide more than $1 billion annually without raising taxes to improve freeway congestion, highways, interchanges, mass transit, potholes and storm drains. When: Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002 at 10 a.m. Where: Luminaria's Restaurant, 3500 Ramona Blvd, Monterey Park. (Southeast of the 10/710 Interchange). Why: California's transportation infrastructure has been neglected for decades. California's roads, once the envy of the nation, are now rated the worst. California spends less per resident on road maintenance and repair than any other state.
