CRR/Fordahl Motorsports Gearing Up for Rolex

CRR/Fordahl Motorsports Gearing Up for Rolex

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
BELLEVUE, Wash. (January 21, 2002) - After winning three Grand-Am Rolex Series races, including the season finale at Daytona, the Crazy Redhead Racing/Fordahl Motorsports team is anxious to return to the3.56-mile road course to start the 2002 season.

For the 40th Anniversary of the Rolex 24 at Daytona, CRR team owner/driver Kim Hiskey, teammate Randy Pobst and crew chief Greg Fordahl will team up with ZIP Racing team to contest the twice-around-the-clock event. The duo will share driving duties with ZIP drivers Steve Ivankovich and Spencer Pumpelly in the brand new #35 Porsche GT3-RS, with Fordahl engineering the car.

"We are looking forward to competing with Steve and Spencer," Hiskey said. "After driving against them last season, we know they are both very competitive drivers. And with Randy in the car, we have a great shot at winning the GT class."

Pobst is eagerly anticipating his returning to Daytona to repeat his first-place finish in the GT class at the 2001 Rolex 24.

"I am definitely working on winning another Rolex watch," Pobst said. "Kim and I won our last Daytona race, and we're bringing Greg (Fordahl) with us to engineer the new Porsche 911."

Pobst is also looking forward to teaming up with the Zip/Pumpelly team.

"Our Daytona test with Steve (Ivankovich) and Spencer's (Pumpelly) team went so well that Kim decided to team up with them. It is very satisfying to work with drivers that understand the importance of cooperation and teamwork to succeed."

Although Hiskey is not bringing her #15 Porsche GT3-R to the Rolex, the CRR team is preparing the car to run the remainder of the 2002 Grand-Am schedule.

"We are going to make a run at winning the GT driver championship this season," Hiskey said. "We've got a great car and a great crew, so we've got a great chance."

Speedvision will have live flag-to-flag coverage of the Rolex event. For more information on Crazy Redhead Racing, visit www.crazyredheadracing.com and for more information on the Rolex 24 at Daytona, visit www.grand-am.com.
