VISTA PAINT ADDS IT NAME TO IRWINDALE'S NASCAR SUPER STOCKS DIVISON

Vista Paint, one of the western United States' most successful commercial paint manufacturers and distributors, has signed-on as the title sponsor of one of Irwindale Speedway's most popular NASCAR Dodge Weekly Racing Series divisions, the sizzling Super Stocks.

"They'll be known as the 'Vista Paint NASCAR Super Stocks'," track GM Bob DeFazio announced. "This sponsorship will bring this strong division to the next level, these cars and their drivers are already great fan favorites, with Vista's help, they'll be receiving even better recognition and support." Each car will carry the Vista Paint banner across the upper edge of its windshield. Doubling last year's point fund, there will $6,000 in end-of-season awards from Vista.

"The professional people who buy Vista Paints like contractors and building operators are great fans of motorsports, and NASCAR racing in particular," said Eddie Fischer Vista's Founder and President. "This association gives us the opportunity to reach them on a weekly basis throughout the year on a local level at a track where exciting race-viewing is a family thing … We'll make the most of this sponsorship to reinforce the already solid reputation of Vista Paints for service and quality."

The Speedway has scheduled 14 races for the Vista Paints NASCAR Super Stocks in the upcoming 2002 season. Super Stock is the only division in Irwindale Speedway's three-year history to have a repeat winner. Long Beach's Jeff Green, won back-to-back championships in the 2000 and 2001 seasons. At this writing it is undetermined if Green will return to try for an unprecedented "threepete" in the 2002 run for the championship title.

Based in Southern California, Vista began over forty years ago when Eddie Fischer joined chemist Walt Jacobson in his small paint store in Garden Grove, California. The first batch of paint they produced was a special concrete coating called "Kolor Kote".

Within a year a second store and factory were both opened in Placentia. Rudimentary manufacturing equipment was used to mix the paint. One person operated the factory and the store at the same time. The partners soon realized that to be successful they would need to make a broader line of paint. As result, in 1959, the Garden Grove store was sold, and the Placentia store and factory moved to a larger building in Stanton.

Jacobson developed a full line of paint products. Fischer managed the store during the day and sold paint to contractors in the evening. The Company incorporated under the name of Grove Paints in 1960 and experienced rapid growth with sales doubling in a single year. The Stanton store expanded in 1962 and then two (2) years later, the Company moved to a new facility in Stanton, which is used as a store today.

>From the very beginning Fischer and Jacobson were committed to the manufacture of quality products and customer service. They were convinced that by offering excellent products at competitive prices, and first-rate service they could fulfill the needs of the painting contractor. These principles, plus hard work, enabled the Company to thrive in central Orange County. By 1966 the Company's market area had outgrown its name. The partners, looking forward to a prosperous future, renamed it Vista Paint Corporation and retail stores were added as the business expanded. After twenty-two years in business, Walt Jacobson retired and sold his interest in Vista Paint to Eddie Fischer.

In the fall of 1981, a new 135,000 square foot concrete tilt-up building was raised in Fullerton. This is the proud home of Vista Paint's corporate headquarters, manufacturing plant, and warehouse.

Now four decades old, Vista Paint is recognized as a premier manufacturer of architectural coatings for residential, commercial, and industrial use. Vista Paint Corporation is one of the largest independently owned paint companies in Southern California. In addition, Vista is the leading center for paint spray equipment sales, rentals, and repairs. Vista is also a major retailer of window and wall coverings. Currently Vista Paint has retail locations throughout California and Las Vegas and is positioned for continued growth because of its quality paint, outstanding service and excellent employees.

Irwindale Speedway is located directly adjacent to the 605 freeway in Irwindale, California and freeway-close from anywhere in the southland. With acres of parking, great food, clean restrooms, special pre-race shows, super seats, daylight-bright lighting, and the most competitive paved oval track racing in the country … Irwindale Speedway has become THE place to be for live action-entertainment excitement on any Saturday night from mid-March through November.

As a sidebar, the Irwindale facility was originally painted using Vista Paints exclusively. That brand continues to be the specified brand not because of its sponsorship of the Super Stock division at Irwindale, but because it's the best product for the purpose.

Irwindale Speedway has a informative website (www.irwindalespeedway.com) where fans can print out a complete racing schedule for the 2002 season. Tickets for any racing event during the new season will be on sale at the track on March 9 and are also available by phone at (626) 358-1100.
