Traffic Pulse Service To Pittsburgh TV Channel

WAYNE, Pa.--Jan. 18, 2002--Traffic Pulse Networks (TPN) announced that starting today it is providing Pittsburgh's WPXI-TV Channel 11 with real-time traffic information for use with the station's locally produced news programs.
The information is gathered by TPN'S Digital Traffic Pulse(SM) roadside sensor network that features precise point-to-point travel times for the city's major highways in addition to actual speeds and traffic volume, incidents and events.
The sensor system is supplemented by TPN's four-camera network that supplies non-exclusive images for use during Channel 11's early morning, midday, early evening, late evening and weekend news programming. In addition, all traffic reports and camera images will be re-broadcast in their entirety on the Pittsburgh Cable News Channel.
Gerald Griffin, TPN VP/GM - Television, said: "Extensive consumer research has shown that to make better decisions, drivers say they need more timely, accurate information than what's currently available. We provide that information to Pittsburgh area and WPXI viewers exclusively through Traffic Pulse Networks. Viewers will see and hear the digital difference immediately."
He added: "Since launching our Digital Traffic Pulse sensor network in Pittsburgh, we have implemented several refinements including camera installations. The combination of our unique sensor network and camera coverage provides WPXI-TV Channel 11 with real-time traffic updates and visuals that add an extra dimension to its news programming and added value to its viewers."
