Richardson, Texas Police Department Recovers Stolen Vehicle Using GPS Recovery System Totally Under Law Enforcement Control

RICHARDSON, Texas--Jan. 16, 2002--One company has prided itself as being the only stolen vehicle recovery network totally under police control and a car owner's only choice for many years. While it was trend-setting 16 years ago it has remained basically unchanged and become passe.
The occurrence of one particular vehicle theft recently relinquished the older company's police control claim. The Richardson, Texas Police Department responded to a report of a stolen vehicle. The dealer representative reported the theft of the vehicle from their residence noting that the stolen car was equipped with an InterTrak(SM) supported stolen vehicle recovery device.
Richardson Police received the stolen vehicle's InterTrak account number from the car dealer and brought up InterTrak's web site (www.trackmenow.com ) that is supported by Televoke's service platform on their own computer. The department soon located the stolen vehicle to find that it was parked in a locale in neighboring Dallas. Detectives were dispatched to the location displayed on the computer screen.
Upon arrival at the location address the detectives affected the arrest of a suspect with the stolen car and took him into custody. The elapsed time from the victim's call to the time of the arrest was an hour. The car dealer promptly got his car back.

    Stolen Vehicle Tracking History

Forced in the past to drive specially equipped patrol cars to "sniff out" stolen cars, police are now starting to use more advanced technology that is less invasive on department resources.
