Aging Well: Surprising Guideposts to a Happier Life from the Landmark Harvard 
Study of Adult Development, is the groundbreaking result of what is arguably the
longest investigation of aging in the world – the Study of Adult Development at 
Harvard University.  Dr. George Vaillant, Harvard Medical School’s Director of 
the Harvard Study of Adult Development, scientifically evaluates aging and 
offers the prescriptions for everyone, whether they are 25 or 55 to do it 
successfully.

The revolutionary study integrated three groups of elderly men and women, 864 
people in total.  The three groups were:

·A sample of socially advantaged Harvard graduates born about 1920 

·A selection of socially disadvantaged Inner City men born about 1930 

·A group of Northern Californian middle-class, intellectually gifted women, born
about 1910 

Dr. Vaillant will be available to discuss all aspects of aging well including:
·Whether the secret to a happy old age lies in our genes or the lifestyle we 
choose
·Whether education, not money or social prestige, is one of the secrets to good 
health
·Whether aging means decay
