MADD Teams Up With Lampus Racing to Reach NHRA Drag Racing Fans

IRVING, Texas, Jan. 15 -- Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and Lampus Racing have announced plans for a unique partnership to spread drunk driving and underage drinking prevention messages for the upcoming National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) season. With corporate funding, the program -- the first time a NHRA racer has signed an agreement to position a charitable organization as the primary sponsor -- will place MADD's name and logo on 2000 NHRA Top Fuel Rookie of the Year Don Lampus, Jr.'s dragster in an effort to raise awareness among racing fans, both youth and adult.

In conjunction with the MADD vehicle, RaceSport Ltd., a business development and motor sports marketing firm, is seeking funding from corporate sponsors wishing to align with MADD's underage drinking and drunk driving prevention message for a program titled Racing Program for MADD. The vision for Racing Program for MADD is to incorporate MADD's exciting multimedia presentations at each NHRA event in the 2002 race season. The presentations, entitled Street Smarts and Fake ID use stories of real young people, celebrity interviews and a contemporary soundtrack to convey alcohol and other drug prevention messages.

``Drag racing is the perfect vehicle for MADD to reach out to both youth and adults in a colorful and exciting way,'' said Cragg Eubanks, founder of RaceSport. ``We are actively seeking companies that wish to align their corporate image alongside MADD's safe driving message and gain exposure among millions of drag racing fans across the country. In addition, we will seek to individually promote our corporate sponsor's products and services.''

``Last year alone, more than 16,000 people were killed and another 600,000 others were injured in alcohol-related crashes,'' said MADD National President Millie I. Webb. ``By partnering with Don Lampus and RaceSport, we hope to counter alcohol advertisements and sponsorships typically seen at racetracks with lifesaving underage drinking and drunk driving prevention messages.''

RaceSport Ltd. is engaged in the development of business and marketing programs for corporate America through the use of motorsports. RaceSport represents top-level professional teams in CART, the IRL, NASCAR and the NHRA and seeks to maximize value delivered to sponsors through creative and aggressive marketing.
