Verizon Selects National Technical Systems as Certified Independent Testing Lab to Speed Time-to-Market
CALABASAS, Calif.--Jan. 15, 2002--National Technical Systems Inc. (NTS), a leading provider of quality and conformance testing and managed services for a number of industries, including telecommunications and information technology, today announced the company has been named as a certified Independent Testing Lab (ITL) for Verizon.
Under the Verizon certification program, NTS will witness/perform Network Equipment Building System (NEBS) testing required for equipment at manufacturers' testing facilities.
"Verizon requires that telecommunications equipment be tested by independent testing labs to ensure that strict industry standards are met," said Jack Lin, CEO of NTS.
"NTS understands the market pressures that Verizon suppliers face and the importance of getting testing right the first time. We offer a comprehensive certification process that has been designed to assist suppliers in quickly meeting and maintaining industry-standard compliance requirements."
NTS Leverages Proven Assessment Process
As a nationally recognized test lab, NTS offers Verizon suppliers the expertise they need to shorten test cycles and streamline product and service delivery. The program NTS has created for Verizon ensures vendors will meet a rigorous standard for quality while benefiting from a fast-track, evenly administered compliance process.
The NTS Laboratory Certification process will utilize standards-based assessment techniques to ensure that the requirements of ISO/IEC Guide 25 are met. The company will conduct mandatory NEBS compliance evaluation services, as well as supplemental tests required by Verizon. NTS will maintain an ongoing program for testing and re-certification to ensure continuing compliance.
Under the Verizon program, NTS gives equipment manufacturers flexible evaluation and testing alternatives. NTS has the ability to conduct testing at the manufacturer's facility, provide witnessing at the manufacturer's testing site, or conduct evaluation services and testing at each of the four NTS telecommunications-equipped labs located in Boxborough, Mass.; Fullerton, Calif.; Plano, Texas; and Tinton Falls, N.J.
NTS has supported testing programs for telecommunications and networking providers over the past seven years ranging from industry giants such as Ericsson to new market entrants including Telica Inc. and Equipe Communications Corp.
"The selection of NTS as a premier certified Independent Testing Lab for Verizon validates the unique expertise we have developed in the telecommunications market," said William C. McGinnis, president and COO of NTS.
"NTS has created a certification process for Verizon suppliers to achieve business-critical efficiencies and improvements in cost, quality and time-to-market."
