Cummins Files Post-Effective Amendment to Form S-3

    COLUMBUS, Ind.--Jan. 14, 2002--On January 11, 2002, Cummins Inc. and Cummins Capital Trust I filed Post-Effective Amendment No.1 to their Registration Statement on Form S-3 (file No. 333-68592) with the Securities and Exchange Commission. This registration Statement relates to the registration of 6,000,000 7% Convertible Cumulative Quarterly Income Preferred Securities of Cummins Capital Trust I being sold by the selling securityholders named therein.
    This post-effective amendment has been filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission but has not yet become effective. These securities may not be sold nor may offers to buy be accepted prior to the time the registration statement becomes effective.
