ARCA RE/MAX Schrader release

SCHRADER ADDS ARCA RE/MAX FLAVOR TO '02 SCHEDULE

TOLEDO OH, 1-12-02 - Full-time NASCAR Winston Cup Series driver Ken
Schrader is well known for his diverse racing calendar; and like most
every other season, his 2002 schedule has a couple of added ingredients.

This year's recipe includes another dose of ARCA RE/MAX Series flavor
with two events planned, one at the .4-mile Big Daddy’s South Boston
Speedway in South Boston, Virginia, and the other on the mile-dirt at
the DuQuoin, Illinois State Fairgrounds.

“It’s always a kick for me to run with the ARCA RE/MAX guys,” said
Schrader during recent testing at Daytona Int’l Speedway. “It’s just
good-old, down-to-earth short-track racing with a great club. I admire
the diversity in the ARCA schedule. DuQuoin’s like going home for me.
It’s just a lot of fun. I’ll tell you though, the ARCA regulars know
their business well; it’s getting harder and harder to win races over
there, but given the limited time we’re able to give it, we’ll give it
our best shot. And South Boston’s close to home, so it should work out
great.”

Schrader, who has 8 RE/MAX Series wins in 24 starts since 1981, will be
fielding his own Federated Auto Parts Pontiacs for the two events.

The Big Daddy’s Liberty 200 at South Boston, the first for the RE/MAX
Series at the renowned Virginia track, falls on Wednesday night, July
3rd while the Federated Auto Parts 100 dirt-track classic at DuQuoin
rolls off Monday, Labor Day, September 2. In each case, Schrader can
make it work in his busy schedule. Both events are live on Speed
Channel. In addition, the South Boston event will also feature the
Textilease NASCAR late model stocks and a fire works display.

Representative of Schrader’s diversity, the Fenton, Missouri native has
RE/MAX Series wins on the Hagerstown, Maryland half-mile dirt, the
Topeka, Kansas roadcourse, the Indianapolis State Fairgrounds dirt-mile,
Toledo Speedway, the Springfield, Illinois dirt-mile, Anderson Speedway,
Salem Speedway, and most recently at Nashville Superspeedway in 2001.
Schrader debuted with the RE/MAX Series in a Ford Granada in the 1981
Daytona ARCA 200 where he finished 8th. In all, Schrader has led 808
laps in 13 RE/MAX Series races. In addition, the Concord, North Carolina
resident has 16 career RE/MAX Series car owner wins including
back-to-back victories in the Daytona ARCA 200 with Mike Wallace in 1994
and Andy Hillenburg in 1995.
