The first American to win the Olympic Gold Medal since Dorothy Hamill in 1976, 
Kristi Yamaguchi maintains a hold on America’s heart a decade after winning the 
Olympic Gold Medal in Albertville, France.  

Not only is Kristi the official Goodwill Ambassador for the 2002 Olympic Winter 
Games in Salt Lake City, Utah, she is the driving force behind the remarkable 
Always Dream Foundation, which raises money for needy children. She is also 
featured in prominent commercial roles with Smart Ones ®, Allstate Insurance ™, 
Bank of America ™, Hallmark, General Motors and Chevrolet.  For the past two 
years, Yamaguchi and several celebrities from the world of sports and 
entertainment have produced the nationally televised “A Golden Moment” to 
support special causes including breast cancer awareness.

Now, Yamaguchi is helping Olympic hopefuls by supporting the Smart Ones Skate 
America.  It is the premier international event conducted annually by the USFSA.
 It features many of the top Olympic-eligible figure skaters in the World, 
competing in ladies' and men's singles, pairs and ice dancing.  Skate America is
the first opportunity for athletes to unveil their Olympic season programs that 
will carry them through the Games.
