CARFAX Announces Batch System; Tool Allows CARFAX Auction Customers to Check Multiple Vehicles From the Internet

FAIRFAX, Va.--Jan. 9, 2002--CARFAX, industry pioneer and creator of the vehicle history report, today announced the addition of an Internet-based batch system, available for use by auto auctions.
CARFAX developed this program to address the need of auctions to check large numbers of vehicles at one time. The CARFAX Batch System allows auction users subscribed through Carfaxonline.com, CARFAX's commercial website, to submit files containing multiple Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs).
A summary report, based on the file, is produced instantly on screen that can be sorted by sale number, VIN, last title date and problem flags. From that summary report, vehicle histories can be ordered simply by clicking on the appropriate VIN.
Dyer Auto Auction in Dyer, IN participated as a test site for the CARFAX Batch System. Terry Anderson, Network Administrator, offered the following feedback on the new system, "Everything went great. The processing speed is much faster plus it is simple to use. The CARFAX Summary Report is an easy read, and the ability to sort by problem flags is particularly helpful in identifying problem vehicles during fast-paced auction days."
"This is a huge time-saving device for auctions that run entire inventories through Carfaxonline.com," says CARFAX's vice president of Customer Operations George Bounacos. "Auctions can run multiple histories much faster and easier without having to flip between screens or re-type VINs."
The CARFAX Batch System, which is immediately available to auction subscribers; will become integral to the current auction process by replacing the legacy, stand-alone program. CARFAX anticipates introducing a variation of this tool for dealer subscribers in late Spring.
