Mobile Multimedia Keeps Rear Passengers Entertained

TROY, Mich., Jan. 9 -- Delphi Automotive Systems'Communiport® audio/video rear-seat entertainment system is being featured prominently at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit this week. The system is offered on the popular GM U-Vans. The Delphi system is offered on the Oldsmobile Silhouette, Pontiac Montana and the Chevrolet Venture vans.

``Our rear-seat entertainment system is a great way to occupy idle time for children on long and even short trips,'' said Bob Schumacher, general director of Mobile MultiMedia at Delphi. ``It makes getting to the destination a shorter more enjoyable route for everyone.''

Delphi's factory-installed rear-seat entertainment system features DVD playback, CD playback dual headphones and audio/video inputs for any standard video game, camcorder, VCR or other auxiliary devices.

The Delphi integrated units on display at the auto show feature a 7-inch LCD color monitor, which offers a crisp and clear picture. The screen is flush-mounted with the headliner and flips down for use. Rear-seat passengers use an infrared remote to operate the controls for the system.

Delphi also markets aftermarket rear-seat entertainment systems.

``Rear-seat entertainment is one of the hottest items in mobile multimedia on the market today,'' said Schumacher. ``I only see an upside in the acceptance rates of these systems on vehicles as more people experience the convenience of our system.''
