Rapid Prototyping System-Stratasys Titan is ABS-Ready
MINNEAPOLIS--Jan. 9, 2002--Rapid-prototyping systems maker, Stratasys, announced that its FDM Titan(TM) is now ABS-ready. The Titan was introduced last May with polycarbonate modeling material. Users now have the option of modeling in both polycarbonate and ABS plastic. Plans for future modeling materials call for PPSF (polyphenylsulfone), and eventually, blends of materials as customer demand dictates. The three planned materials will offer users such high-performance characteristics as superior impact strength, strength at high temperatures, flame-retardant qualities, sterilization capability, and/or resistance to oils, gasoline, chemicals, and acids.
The ABS-ready Titans will begin shipping this month. Existing Titan users can contact Stratasys for an ABS upgrade package, which will allow the machine to model with the new material. Upgrading to ABS and switching between materials are both simple steps, performed by the operator. Contact your Stratasys sales office for upgrade package pricing.
