WHAT: Just like people, dogs are living longer and prone to many of the same
age-related health problems as their human companions. Groundbreaking research
has shown that certain antioxidants and nutrients can help combat signs of brain
aging in dogs and may pave the way for an improved understanding of brain aging
in humans. However, as many as 1.5 million dogs are needlessly put to sleep or
removed from the home because of behavior problems--that’s more than die from
cancer. Now, the first and only pet food clinically proven to help fight signs
of brain aging may offer a new lease on life for 17 million senior dogs in the
U.S.
FINDINGS: At the North American Veterinary Conference (NAVC), scientists will
present breakthrough clinical research regarding a revolutionary new pet food,
Prescription Diet Canine b/d. The clinical study shows:
· Older dogs fed the b/d food experienced up to 58% improvement in learning
ability compared to dogs on a control food.
· 74% of older dogs with a history of house soiling accidents experienced a
reduction after only 30 days.
· 61% of dogs with diminished enthusiasm in greeting family members showed
improvement after feeding for only 30 days.
