JIT Corp.'s Desktop-Hosted PartsClerk Reveals Supply Chain Efficiencies of up to 50-Percent for Manufacturers
LITTLE CANADA, Minn.--Jan. 8, 2002--James Integrated Technologies, Corp. (JIT Corp.) today launched an affordable and effective solution for supply chain automation. With Sega Corporation as one of the first PartsClerk(TM) customers, many other types of manufacturers including electronics, automotive and avionics, have expressed interest in a new way to pump value into their supply chain without spending a fortune on complex hardware and software installations.
PartsClerk system is a supply chain automation solution based on JIT Corp.'s Desktop Hosting concepts and implementing practices of Common-Language(TM) and Common-Tools(TM):
-- | Desktop Hosting is the integration of physical and web based business. The book Desktop Hosting from Wiley Publishing will soon be available (search "Desktop Hosting" at www.amazon.com). |
-- | Common-Language is an industry standard library of parts data. Companies can subscribe to the library to keep their databases of products current with those of their trading partners. Instead of EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) or XML (Extended Markup Language) translation expenses, trading partners trade in a "common-language." Sabre's "library" of available airplane seats is a well known example that supports the travel industry. |
-- | Common-Tools includes JIT Corp's proprietary enterprise, sales operations, and supply chain suite of software products. Designed for both Macintosh and PC platforms, these software programs integrate the intranet business systems with the business systems of trading partners via the web. |
For Sega's Arcade Divison, the system of integrating internal business systems with their distribution partners is reinforcing their relationships with their trading partners and paying off in profitability.
Sega uses the system for its arcade and gaming machine spare parts sales. With 60 authorized dealers of its products, the company wanted to enhance its channel relationships while finding a way to reduce errors and customer service inquiries via phone and fax. With the PartsClerk system, Sega is able to feature graphical representations of its products in the form of exploded assembly drawings to illustrate specific parts and part numbers. As a result, errors have been greatly reduced and customers can easily view ordering information, and installation and safety instructions.
"In the first six months of using PartsClerk, 50-percent of new orders were placed without the assistance of a Sega customer service representative to assist with order entry," said Darl Davis, Director of Service for Sega Corporation. "We project that by the end of the first year, 75-percent of our orders will be placed without order entry assistance. We've already exceeded our ROI with significantly reduced errors, lower costs, and increased customer satisfaction."
"We're solving a very important problem that many mid- to large-sized manufacturers face today. The automation of traditional ordering processes is becoming more and more critical both because customers demand it and because manufacturers can't afford not to automate," said Bill James, President and founder of James Integrated Technologies. "PartsClerk is different because it's affordable and easy. By simply installing the software on desktop systems at very minimal investment - free for single users - manufacturers can greatly reduce order processing errors, improve inventory control, and improve their overall profitability."
PartsClerk simplifies the entire supply chain, making ordering and inventory control easier by eliminating costly errors that stem for miscommunication. The system allows dealers to access the system via a secure, password-based log-in and even supports multiple languages. The PartsClerk solution benefits manufacturers and supplier relationships across several industries including avionics, automotive, engines, electronics, and/or the defense industry. Other applications of JITCorp's desktop-hosted order software have been applied to many other industries including publishing, beverage, cycling, and confection. "We've discovered that companies don't need to invest hundreds of thousands of dollars in supply chain, Web ordering, or sales force automation systems that often have a high failure rate. With our proprietary desktop hosting software, for the first time there's a universal language, and the tools to buy better, deliver better and sell better," said James.
PartsClerk's Common-Tools components include a suite of supply chain tools: CommerceExpert(TM), RetailClerk(TM), and WebClerk(TM).
-- CommerceExpert is a sales and operation tool for managing the
system for use through the entire business enterprise. This is
for manufacturers, distributors, mail order companies, and
independent sales reps.
-- RetailClerk is Point of Sale cash register and enterprise
software for retail companies.
-- WebClerk is a Web serving and e-commerce software integrated
directly into CommerceExpert and RetailClerk for true supply
chain management from manufacturer to dealer.
Single-user versions normally sell for $849. Currently these programs are offered for free through a limited time offer. The cost of PartsClerk data subscriptions vary by industry. For multiple users, JIT Corp offers complete packages to get any operation up and running, or services can be purchased on an a la carte basis. These services include:
