Mindready to Showcase New Automotive 1394 Product at Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, USA
LAS VEGAS--Jan. 7, 2002--Mindready Solutions Inc. , a leading supplier of test engineering solutions, manufacturing automation and real-time communications for the telecommunications, automotive and aerospace industries, today announced the introduction of MARP (Mindready Automotive Reference Platform) Starter Kit, an integrated 1394 development tool for the automotive and telematics industry.
The launch of MARP Starter Kit comes in the aftermath of MARP, a telematics development environment that was introduced last October and that laid the foundations of future automotive telematics applications. With the release of MARP Starter Kit, Mindready provides its first 1394 automotive solution to application designers, car equipment manufacturers and integrators to design their telematics application prototypes and eventually deploy them in final automotive embedded products.
MARP Starter Kit, an embedded development platform, allows designers to incorporate IDB-1394 specifications and networking applications in next-generation electronically equipped cars. MARP Starter Kit offers the developers a fully integrated telematics solution based on Mindready's leading-edge IEEE-1394 hardware and software supporting infotainment devices such as Digital cameras, DVDs, CD players and MPEG2 video display... MARP Starter Kit will also interface a 3.5" Pentium III 1GHz single board computer and a LCD 10.4" flat color display touchscreen.
Thanks to its open architecture and its scalable multi-protocol and multi-device features, MARP Starter Kit allows developers to integrate IDB-1394 telematics specifications into their own applications without having to start from scratch, which drastically reduces the overall development time as well as the learning requirements to integrate IEEE-1394 protocols.
Mindready has been strongly involved for the past year with the IDB Forum, to define IDB-1394 protocol, the automotive grade version of IEEE-1394, to be deployed in automotive telematics applications. As part of this partnership, Mindready will be sharing IDB Forum's booth at CES Show in Las Vegas, January 8 to 11, 2002 and will be showcasing an application of MARP Starter Kit. This demo will feature how application designers can integrate infotainment applications into a complete telematics solution. Mindready has integrated third-party software and hardware capabilities in this demo such as SoftAcoustik's cutting edge digital audio systems and 8D versatile Java-based smart operating environment Cloud9(TM), which jump-starts the development of new distributed applications and provides the front-end interface of the MARP Demonstration Unit.
