RESPONSE Services Center Chooses GDT Street and Address Information for Wireless Application Services
LAS VEGAS--Jan. 7, 2002--Geographic Data Technology, Inc. (GDT), a premier developer of map databases, today announced that RESPONSE Services Center, LLC will incorporate GDT's street and address database into a suite of telematics, vehicle tracking and roadside assistance services. The new three-year contract builds on a business alliance formed by the two companies last year to support delivery of telematics services to virtually any device that can communicate data and provide location, including smart phones, wireless personal digital assistants and vehicle-installed telematics units.RESPONSE has incorporated GDT's Dynamap(R)/Transportation North America database into its next-generation telematics and location-based service infrastructure to provide emergency response, roadside assistance, points of interest information, concierge services, driving directions, and vehicle tracking across the United States and Canada. Compiled from a vast network of sources, Dynamap/Transportation provides street and address coverage, highly accurate one-way and restricted turn information, accurate representation of limited access highways, preferred routing names, and exit point layers throughout the U.S. and Canada.
"The comprehensive and consistent coverage provided by GDT's data offers us a superior product for locating streets and addresses wherever our customers happen to be," said Robert Ohm, executive vice president of RESPONSE. "Because we're offering a product to consumers on the go, it's critical that we be able to find them in large metropolitan areas and in rural locations in the U.S. and Canada."
Mike Gerling, GDT's president adds, "Our ongoing alliance with RESPONSE will provide us a valuable feedback loop so we can continue to refine the data to ensure that customers get the type of location information that is important for the way they use the services. This partnership approach offers customers a product that evolves and improves as their use of telematics services grows."
