ARCA ANNOUNCES NEW SAFETY MEASURES
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (1-5-02)
TOLEDO OH – ARCA RE/MAX Series officials today announced new safety
measures effective immediately beginning with the February 10, 2002
Discount Auto Parts 200 at Daytona Int’l Speedway.
In addition to approved head and neck restraint devices mandated for all
ARCA RE/MAX Series drivers in October of 2001, all over-the-wall RE/MAX
Series officials will wear full-coverage fire-retardant uniforms and
helmets. All race team fuel fillers and catch-can personnel will also
wear the aforementioned safety apparatus, with RE/MAX Series officials
highly recommending that all additional over-the-wall race team
personnel be so protected.
Age eligibility requirements are also changing. No drivers under 18
years of age will be approved to compete on RE/MAX Series tracks greater
than one mile in length without prior experience in sanctioned
superspeedway competition through 2003. Beyond 2003, no drivers under 18
will compete on tracks greater than one mile in length.
In addition, ARCA will be hosting a safety seminar at noon eastern time
on Sunday, March 3rd at Toledo Speedway. All are welcome.
