Hyundai Sets All-Time Sales Record in 2001; December Sales Set Eleventh Consecutive Record

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Jan. 2 -- Hyundai Motor America today announced record sales of 24,413 vehicles for the month of December, up 39 percent over the previous year. Sales in 2001 also reached a new milestone -- 346,235 which set a new all-time record for Hyundai in the U.S. up 42 percent over 2000.

``Hyundai's phenomenal record growth during the past three years is due to three basic factors,'' said Hyundai's Vice President of Sales, Robert Cosmai. ``First is our consistent marketing message, building the Hyundai brand and reinforcing the Hyundai value story as a 'smart buy' in each market segment. Second is our focused dealer organization and, of course, there is The Hyundai Advantage, America's Best Warranty, featuring 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain protection.''
