Car Show Report
DETROIT, Jan. 2 -- Holidays are over and it's time to get back to work. But who says you can't have fun on the job? TheCarConnection.com takes on the tough assignment covering the two biggest car shows in the U.S. And over the coming week, readers will get the most complete coverage available on the web of the Los Angeles and North American International (Detroit) auto shows!
The friendly rivalry between LA and Detroit is a boon for automotive aficionados, bringing out some of the year's hottest new cars, trucks and concept vehicles. Honda will pull the wraps off its new Pilot SUV, while Saturn unveils its intriguing Sky show convertible. At the top end of the envelope, there's the Lincoln Continental Concept, Maserati's eagerly-awaited Spyder, the exotic Cadillac Cien supercar prototype and BMW's Z5 show car. And Bentley will unveil its brand-changing $145,000 GT super coupe.
All told, more than 50 vehicles will be seen for the first time in LA and Detroit, and readers of TheCarConnection.com will get a close up look starting with today's updated previews of the two shows. Over the coming week, TCC will have daily coverage from the show floor including photos, in-depth reports and interviews with some of the world's top automotive newsmakers.
There's more on TheCarConnection this week, of course. The hot news is that light truck sales are likely to surge past those of passenger cars when the final sales numbers are tallied up for 2001. TCC will have the details. And TheCarConnection will be on the scene at another hot new year car show, Auto Expo.
Can't wait to drive the new Jaguar S-Type R? TCC provides a preview of this tire-spinning luxury sedan. You'll also find spy shots of the next- generation, 2003 Audi A-8! Other reviews this week include the Ford Thunderbird and Porsche Boxster S, as well as the Jaguar XK-R convertible.
Still haven't made those New Year's resolutions? TheCarConnection has some roadway resolutions you might want to add to your list.
