Getting There Is All the Fun: Writers Club Press Issues 'Just Two for the Road' by Eugene X. Perticone
OSWEGO, N.Y.--Dec. 21, 2001--With chapters like "Friends I Really Never Knew" and "A Tomato In Cherry Valley," Eugene X. Perticone's Just Two for the Road is both a memoir of the author's lifelong passion for motorcycle riding and a reminder to savor life's journeys. The book has just been released by Writers Club Press and is available at iUniverse.com, Amazon.com, and Barnes & Noble (bn.com).
The author, a psychotherapist, began riding motorcycles at an early age. "I used to play at riding a cycle like most kids play at riding imaginary horses," he writes. "My interest in motorcycles was there when I was very young, probably by age six, if not before."
Although Just Two for the Road is full of humorous and touching tales of Perticone's travels throughout the Northeast on his beloved two-wheelers, the book was written to inspire readers to look at their lives in a different way.
"My aim in writing Just Two for the Road was to awaken readers - not just motorcyclists - to be more aware, more appreciative, and more open to the benefits of the inner world of imagination as well as to "reality-based" sensory experience," Perticone explains. "This is done indirectly by example and by humor rather than by any lecturing or preaching. I wanted people to get messages without realizing that was the intent."
Motorcyclists and non-riders alike have found Just Two for the Road to be an engaging read.
"I have never driven or even ridden on a motorcycle, but I thoroughly enjoyed this book," said one reader in a review on bn.com. "His passion for the motorcycle, and his deep pleasure and awareness of the world around him, including the people he encountered, were very expressively communicated. I enjoyed it so much that I could hardly put it down and hated to see it end."
