Saab Automobile Gives AU-System Telematics Commission

GOTHENBURG, Sweden--Dec. 14, 2001--AU-System has been commissioned by Saab Automobile to help turn the company's telematics strategy into services and applications. The collaboration will involve AU-System providing technical and operational support as well as advice on the development of mobile services. The commission is a continuation of a previous collaboration in which AU-System helped Saab develop the car company's overall telematics strategy.
"We chose to work with AU-System because their approach to telematics is based on our brand and core business. AU-System's comprehensive technical expertise will also play a big role in fulfilling our telematics strategy," says Peder Fast, telematics manager at Saab Automobile.
The collaboration with AU-System, which has long experience of vehicle-related services and mobile applications, is part of Saab's strategy of introducing mobile services into the company's model range.
"It'll be a challenge for AU-System to be involved in a telematics project that follows Saab's tradition of always taking the lead in creating innovative solutions for its cars," says Jan Unander, a business strategist with AU-System's telematics team in Gothenburg. "AU-System will now contribute to the speedy realisation and delivery of telematics services that will further strengthen the Saab brand."
The collaboration with Saab will be the responsibility of AU-System's Gothenburg office, which apart from other things specialises in providing strategic business advice in combination with technical and systems development in the area of telematics. AU-System is also an active member of the local initiative known as Telematics Valley, under which various consulting and engineering companies work together to promote the marketing of telematics and establish the region as a world leader in this field.
