ISUZU SUV Production Headed to the U.S.
December 13, 2001
Sacramento - General Motors' Isuzu unit announced Wednesday that it plans to move production of its Trooper SUV to the United States when the next model changeover occurs. It wasn't clear whether the company would continue to operate its plant in Japan after the U.S. plant was established.
While there is no timetable, Isuzu will takeover a G.M. model SUV and market it as a Trooper. The move will bolster production at a G.M. plant and the vehicle will be produced where it is sold, as the Trooper is not a popular model in Japan.
