General Motors Continues Leadership Position In Marine Gasoline Engine Industry

GM Becomes Exclusive Provider Of Engines To Pleasurecraft Marine And Establishes New Agreement With Correct Craft

ORLANDO - General Motors is building on its long history of providing innovative engines to the marine industry by becoming the exclusive provider of engines to Pleasurecraft Marine, as well as establishing a new three-year cross-promotional agreement with Correct Craft, Inc.

Pleasurecraft Marine, which currently uses GM's Vortec 5700 V8 and other non-GM engines, will now utilize additional engines from the Vortec lineup. The Vortec portfolio includes a wide range of engines from 2.0-liter to 8.1-liter.

In addition, GM and Correct Craft have entered into a new agreement of cross-promotional opportunities over the next three years. As part of the agreement, GM has been named the title sponsor of the Masters Waterski and Wakeboard Tournament, the oldest and most prestigious waterski and wakeboard event for professional athletes in the world. The 2002 event, owned by Correct Craft, will be held May 24-26 at Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, Ga.

"We are excited about strengthening our relationship with Pleasurecraft Marine and entering into this new promotional agreement with Correct Craft," said Al Alvarez, Vortec Engines brand manager at GM Powertrain. "Both companies have been great to work with and we look forward to all of the exciting opportunities in the future."

GM's Powertrain division manufactures engines, transmissions, castings and components for GM cars and trucks worldwide, and also has a strong outside sales activity to more than 25 customers including automotive, industrial and marine companies.
